Shoestring Adventures went camping in Joshua Tree National Park over the first weekend of spring!
Joshua Tree is located in Southern California where the Mojave and the Colorado deserts meet, producing a unique landscape with a rich diversity of life. Most famously, Joshua Trees grow throughout the park, playfully greeting visitors with their crooked arms. Spring is a popular time of year to visit when the weather is cool and desert wildflowers are beginning to bloom.
On Friday afternoon, Shoestring Warriors arrived at Indian Cove from San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, just in time for an afternoon hike into the sunset. Back at camp, Trip Leader Canyon prepared his favorite Soyrizo Tacos with fresh pico de gallo.
On Saturday, Warriors toured the park highlights, including Barker Dam, Lost Horse Mine and Keys View. After an action-packed day, we celebrated with campfire pizzas and s’mores.
On Sunday morning, Warriors woke up early to enjoy one more hike to 49 Palms Oasis. The wildflowers were in bloom, and we even saw a desert tortoise in its natural habitat! However, we didn’t have time to count all 49 palms, so we’ll just take their word for it. To wrap up the weekend, Warriors enjoyed a relaxing sound bath at the Integraton and lunch at Pappy and Harriet’s before returning home.
