What are your passions outside of work?

Some of my passions are traveling, concert going, snowboarding, and of course art/photography. And I pretty much like doing anything that’s outdoors related.

Tell us about yourself!

I grew up and have lived in Los Angeles all my life.

I love this place and the fact there so much to explore nearby.

I went to school for arts/design but decided I also like tinkering with technology. When I’m not out camping, you’ll most likely find me on the slopes snowboarding. 🙂

How would you describe your level of camping experience?

I would say I’m a fairly experienced camper and backpacker. I have been on quite a few trips and even numerous solo trips. However, I wouldn’t say I’m experienced enough to fight off a pack of wolves.

Which Shoestring Adventures trips have you completed?

Santa Cruz Island

When did you first discover your love for photography?

I first discovered my love for photography in my photography class in high school. That is when I realized it wasn’t just about point and shoot but also the composition, lighting, and all the technical details. It made me want to use photographs to frame things differently to what we normally can see.

People, animals, landscape, inanimate objects, which do you prefer to shoot and why?

I prefer landscape photography. I really just love spending time outdoors and it’s probably the only time where I can let it all go and be happy.

Which photographers or artists inspire you the most?

One of my favorite photographers is Ansel Adams. Because of him, my first national park I ever visited was Yosemite. The photos he took are captivating and filled with so much detail. Another favorite artist of mine is Damien Hirst. I love his Spot Painting series. The pieces are so simple but yet so beautiful.

Where was your most favorite photo assignment and why did you enjoy it so much?

Not a photo assignment but traveling to Yellowstone during the winter. I got to see Yellowstone in an all day snowmobiling trip. Seeing and photographing the bisons and geysers of Yellowstone in winter is absolutely breathtaking. I still remember the feeling of riding through the empty roads filled with fluffy powder and the cold crisp air hitting my face. It was incredible!

What advice do you have for aspiring outdoor photographers?

Explore everything!

You’ll never know what you can find in your own backyard.

Now that you’ve been on a Shoestring Adventure as a Triptographer, can you tell us your favorite memory?

Jumping into the nice cool water of Santa Cruz Island. It was so refreshing after a long hot day of hiking.

Where’s your next adventure?

Exploring the backcountry of Death Valley. I recently purchased a 1993 Jeep Cherokee 4×4 as my weekend warrior. I have been wanting to visit the Playa Racetrack for many years now but just never had the vehicle to take me there.

I’m super excited to see where my Jeep can take me next.

The perfect s’more? (if you don’t like s’mores, what’s your favorite campfire dessert?)

Open face s’more. One graham cracker, two Hershey’s bar, and one toasted marshmallow.
