Beginner – I went camping for the first time with Shoestring Adventures!
Tell us about your Shoestring Adventures!
I went on my first camping trip in 2014 to Death Valley National Park with Shoestring Adventures. I met Alyx for the first time when I showed up at her house to carpool together! The park was breathtaking, the trip was so much fun.
Two years later we are good friends and even did our own trip together to the Lost Coast. I learned so much on that trip. You could say I caught the camping & backpacking bug– now I have quite a few trips under my belt and am always planning my next outdoor getaway.
What advice do you have for first-time campers who want to get outdoors?
It’s easy, and you don’t need a lot of “stuff.” I didn’t have any gear the first time I went camping. Alyx was a great teacher and I was able to borrow/rent the gear that I needed with her guidance. Now I have my own stuff, but I was able to learn first what I really needed before I made the investment in my gear.
